There is one place where you should NOT try and lower insurance premiums and get an auto insurance discounts and that is with lower liability limits.

Do not lower your liability limits! This is a bad idea. This is something that our clients will ask about though. When people request us to lower liability limits, we will do everything we can to talk them out of it.  You might also go online to get an online auto insurance quote and you are unaware of your liability limits. You get a cheap online auto insurance quote because the insurance company that offered you that online auto insurance quote did you the disfavor of lowering your liability limit. If you get an online auto insurance quote, make sure that the quote is apples to apples with your current auto insurance policy. Anyone can give you a cheap online auto insurance quote. You get what you pay for.

We realize that you are trying to make the most of the money that you are earning. Cutting costs is a good thing to do, we just don't believe you should cut costs on the essentials. Auto liability limits are not something to reduce. 

People who reduce these limits are taking very large chances and when the worst happens such as bad car accident or a home burning down....it's coming out of your pocket. You stand to lose everything over a big claim.

The better way to reduce premiums is to increase your deductibles. This is one of many auto insurance discounts or homeowners insurance discounts that you create yourself. Just by increasing your deductibles, you can obtain large savings on your insurance premiums. Then the saved premiums can cover the deductible of a future claim - if such a claim happens. If it makes it more comfortable, open a savings account and put the savings from your deductible into that account.

Increasing your deductibles gives you an auto insurance discounts and lowers your insurance premiums without putting you at a significant risk like lowering your liability limits does. The next time you see a commercial for an online auto insurance quote, think twice. If you do decide to get the quote, make sure you check it very carefully. Usually the insurance premiums that are saved, are only saved because of the reduction in your auto liability limits.
